2021 HOPA Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Technician Award

The Technician Award recognizes a technician who demonstrates excellence in his/her work and shows a commitment to hematology/oncology pharmacy practice in an organized health care setting.

Jessica Turner has been a nationally certified pharmacy technician since 2004.  She has work in a variety of pharmacy settings including retail, home infusion as a patient services representative, IV compounding technician and buyer.  Jessica is currently a Pharmacy Technician III in the Investigational Drug Service, Cancer Center pharmacy at UC Davis Medical.  Since July 2013, Jessica and her colleagues have played an integral part in the growth of the oncology study portfolio from approximately 80 studies to over 220 studies.  As the service has grown and the study portfolio has changed, Jessica has enjoyed taking on new challenges and responsibilities to assist her pharmacists in the successful treatment of all oncology clinical trials patients.  Jessica works closely with study teams to ensure study patients can receive treatment timely by managing inventory in four pharmacy locations across the UC Davis Medical Center Campus.  In addition, she maintains and processes IDS billing for over 400 total IDS studies.  Jessica has been an active member of the HOPA Investigational Drug Service Special Interest Group since February 2020 and has really enjoyed participating in efforts to standardize the IDS pharmacy practices across institutions.
