Enhancements to Volunteer Management Process Provide Greater Flexibility
A recent assessment of HOPA’s Volunteer Management Process has led to enhancements within the Volunteer Activity Center (VAC). These enhancements include the formation of the General Volunteer Interest Pool, designed to offer greater flexibility and more opportunities for greater participation.
Genmab Advisory Board 2023
Date/Location: In Person around HOPA’s Annual Conference 2023 in Phoenix, AZ. Exact date and time TBD.
The purpose of the advisory board is to gain expert insights from pharmacists with experience in hematology-oncology. The advisory board will be centered around product preparation, administration, and management of potential adverse events.
The meeting objectives are focused on the evolving treatment landscape for Large B-Cell Lymphoma with a focus on better understanding preparation, administration, and adverse event management for novel therapies, such as bispecific antibodies.

Genentech Virtual Advisory Board
Dates: April 2023; Date TBD (Duration 2.5 hours)
The purpose of the advisory board is to get pharmacist feedback on the preparation, administration, and management of bispecific antibodies to inform development of educational strategies and tactics to ensure their safe and appropriate use.

JHOP Call for Reviewers
The Journal of Hematology Oncology Pharmacy (JHOP) is recruiting HOPA members to serve as manuscript reviewers. This opportunity is ideal for young professionals who are looking to gain expertise in scholarly manuscripts. Your support will help to ensure the high quality of articles are published in JHOP which provides a platform for the dissemination of hematology oncology information and the enhancement of patient care.

ASCO CancerLinq Oncology Leadership Council
HOPA is looking for a volunteer to serve on The American Society for Clinical Oncology (ASCO) CancerLinQ Oncology Leadership Council (OLC). The CancerLinQ OLC was formed to advise and provide CancerLinQ leadership and staff the invaluable expertise, experience, and perspectives from the diverse, external stakeholders across the healthcare ecosystem.
CancerLinQ is committed to building a coalition of supporters that will drive collaboration, inclusion, trust, and transparency among its partners to enable it to empower and serve the entire oncology community.
The purposes of the OLC are:
- To have a dedicated forum for engaging key stakeholders from all official CancerLinQ-partnering organizations and ensure multidirectional communication to improve the value and impact of CLQ
- To advise the CancerLinQ Board of Governors on long-term strategic priorities, best practices, and external perspectives from across the healthcare, technology, and various stakeholder communities
- To coordinate and collaborate with other CancerLinQ committees and subcommittees on CLQ matters, as appropriate and needed
- To provide guidance that will enable, support, and accelerate
Members of the OLC have committed to serve as key subject matter experts to inform, assist, and guide the collective priorities of CancerLinQ, and not those of the specific organizations from which they are selected.
OLC Members commit to participate by reviewing materials and taking part in meetings, teleconferences, and email correspondence. They commit to maintain the confidentiality of information shared with them and created by them in connection with CLQ and only to use this information to carry out their OLC roles. They agreed to disclose their relevant professional affiliations and activities as requested and to follow CancerLinQ’s conflict of interest policies and other relevant policies.

Volunteer with the Association of Community Cancer Centers
ACCC is looking for 2 HOPA members to serve as liaisons on a multidisciplinary task force to identify and address practice gaps in the treatment of anemia in adults with myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS).
The task force will provide strategic guidance for the development of focus groups and be responsible for developing educational content. The results from the focus groups will be used to further develop educational initiatives aimed at improving integration of evidence-based treatment options for anemia in patients with lower-risk MDS and providing strategies to optimize outcomes and quality of life in these patients.
We are looking for HOPA members with strong leadership skills and clinical expertise in the treatment of anemia in adults with lower-risk MDS. Project planning with the task force will begin early February 2023. The estimated time commitment for the task force is about 4 hours for planning calls and content review.

Should there be additional spots available on committees, our leaders will check this pool of candidates for potential members.

Volunteer with the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC)
SITC partners with HOPA and other national organizations to provide Advances in Cancer Immunotherapy® (ACI) educational series. These programs provide the latest updates in the use of immunotherapy for cancer treatment. SITC is asking for a HOPA Representative to serve as an organizer for the “Advances in Cancer Immunotherapy for Pharmacists” Webinar which serves as a supplemental program to the live ACI series.
This volunteer will help determine content and select faculty for the webinar. We are looking for a member with knowledge and clinical expertise in immunotherapy, particularly in managing patients on immune checkpoint inhibitors. Program planning will begin by the end of 2022.
