Ila Saunders, PharmD, BCOP

The Volunteer Award recognizes the time, talent and energy of a HOPA member who contributes significant volunteer service to the organization.
Ila Maewal Saunders is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the UC San Diego (UC San Diego) Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and an Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at the Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego. Prior to joining Skaggs in 2014, Ila was a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist- Stem Cell Transplant at MD Anderson Cancer Center for six years. Ila has been actively involved on several HOPA committees since 2011 including the Session Proposal Task Force, Research Abstract Review Group and the BCOP Conference Planning Committee. She has served in leadership roles for the BCOP Annual Conference Planning Committee, BCOP Oversight Committee, and the Entry-level Competencies in Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Practice for Graduates of the PharmD degree and PGY 1 Pharmacy Practice Residency Task Force. Most recently, Ila was appointed as Chair of the BCOP Oversight Committee and the Vice-Chair of the BCOP Preparatory Course Task Force.
