Ali McBride, PharmD, MS
2021 Leadership Award
The new HOPA Leadership Award recognizes pharmacy practitioners who have distinguished themselves by demonstrating superior leadership skills when challenged by a specific opportunity, for their institution, HOPA, or the pharmacy profession that produced/culminated in a significant outcome. As a result they will have advanced oncology pharmacy practice, or made positive changes that benefit patients, students, or colleagues in hematology/oncology pharmacy.
Ali McBride currently serves as the Director of US Health Economics and Outcomes Research in Hematology at Bristol Myers Squibb. Dr. McBride was previously the Clinical Coordinator of Hematology/Oncology at The University of Arizona Cancer Center and served as the PGY-2 Oncology Residency Program Director. He served as the Past-President of the Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) and he has been actively involved with the Hematology Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA).
Dr. McBride received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree at The University of Arizona College of Pharmacy, Tucson, AZ and his Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology and Physiology and Masters of Science in Biology from Purdue University. Ali completed an ASHP-accredited pharmacy practice (PGY1) at The Carl T. Hayden VAMC Phoenix, AZ and oncology (PGY2) residency at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center Tampa, Fl. Dr. McBride has been working on oncology drug shortages and has testified on behalf of HOPA at FDA Drug Shortage Workshop, presented on behalf of ACCC at the Washington DC Congressional Session and was an invited member of the ASHP Drug Shortage Stakeholders Meeting. Dr. McBride is also actively involved with Biosimilar regulation and the pharmacoeconomic impact of biosimilars into the US Marketplace. He has published numerous articles focusing on drug shortages, oral chemotherapy adherence, stem cell transplant and biosimilar implementation into the US health care market.
