Barry Goldspiel is Acting Chief at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center Pharmacy Department in Bethesda, Maryland. He received his B.S. in Pharmacy from the Arnold and Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy in Brooklyn, New York and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He completed a Specialized Residency in Oncology Pharmacy Practice at the Audie L. Murphy Veterans Hospital in San Antonio. He is certified as both a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and a Board-Certified Oncology Pharmacist.
Dr. Goldspiel is an active member and Fellow of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), the International Society of Oncology Pharmacy Practitioners (ISOPP), and the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA). He is a past-president of ISOPP and HOPA.
Dr. Goldspiel is the founding Editor of the Journal of Oncology Pharmacy Practice, the official publication of ISOPP. Dr. Goldspiel is an author or coauthor on over 100 research papers or abstracts. His research interests include new anticancer drug development and pharmacogenomics.
